New year is the best time to make some new changes in your life, including changes in your home. If you are considering selling it is always a good idea to present your home in the best possible light, and even a small renovation may greatly increase the value. Have you wanted to do some renovations and improvements but you still find yourself stuck? One of the main concerns for many people is their budget. They always postpone their project because they are worried about the amount of money that they have to will spend.

Well procrastinate no more because in this post, I will share with you some practical tips that will help you improve your house without having to spend break the budget.

Tip 1: Come up with DIY decor – unleash your creative side by coming up with DIY decor ideas. You will not only save money but you will also be able to come up with personalized designs that will make things so much more special. Plus, it is always fun to do some arts and crafts once in a while.

Tip 2: Look for discounted furniture and appliances – if you are planning to buy some new furniture then be sure to look for warehouse sales where you can buy items at discounted prices. Some appliance stores have deals up to half price on models with dents and dings - sometimes the dent  may not even show!  You may also opt for buying second hand items. Always compare prices so you can get most of your money’s worth.

Tip 3: Play with colours – another tip to consider is playing with colours. You can change the appearance of  room just by changing wall paint colour. Therefore, be sure to choose a suitable colour to enhance the mood and atmosphere in the room. You may also use variety of shades of the chosen colour to add character and to add beauty. For example, if you decided to choose blue then you may go for lighter shade of blue for the ceiling which will give the appearance of extra height.

The internet is an excellent source of inspiration for all these ideas above. I find I can discover so many creative ideas online. However visiting the library and dragging home some beautiful home design books to browse through beside the fire is also a real treat.

Buying a new house would indeed be a great way to start your year. If not, renovating your existing house is also a great change to look forward to. Following the tips in this post will help you improve the appearance of your house without worrying about your budget.
